«Ob jetzt auf der Kopf- oder der Herzebene: Am ehesten erreichen mich von den von Dub inspirierten und weitergedachten Sachen die angenehm vertrackten, meist breakigen Werke. Dabei sind alle möglichen Tempos und Stimmungen willkommen, von meditativ bis antreibend. Zweifellos gibt es beispielsweise auch beim Dub-Techno wunderbare Momente, nur lässt da meine Aufmerksamkeit vergleichsweise früh wieder nach. Wenn es für das Gehör spannend bleibt und erst noch die Brustgegend trifft: Jackpot!»

Dub Inspiration

 « Neue Genres werden häufig zu Definitionszwecken und aus reinen Verlegenheit definiert. Streng genommen bewegen wir uns auf einen Zerfall der Musikstile hinzu. Heute stellen Länder, Regionen und Städte, demzufolge die darin lebenden Personen die Kategorien dar und verflüssigen die Musikrichtungen. Dub ist hier mal Genre, da mal Stilmittel, woanders eine Herausforderung. Ich versuche mich daher nicht nur in einem Genre aufzuhalten. Von wo her die Musik kommt –Space & Klangfarben – ist für mich fast entscheidender, als in Genres zu denken. Mit new.com, Lukem und Qwan Studios habe ich grossartige Sparringpartner und eine wahnsinnige Quelle aus sich immerzu mutierenden Genres, von welchen ich momentan dubwised electronic Music am spannendsten finde.»

«Zurzeit gibt es in der elektronischen Musik keine wirklich innovative Stilrichtung, daher ist das wiederaufgeflammte Interesse an Jungle und frühen Breakbeat aus England nicht erstaundlich. Jungle hat anfangs der 90er Jahre den Dancehall in Grossbritannien auf grossartige Weise transformiert und zusammen mit Techno auf dem Kontinent die Klubkultur durch und durch revolutioniert. Diese Sounds haben mächtige Emotionen geweckt. Sie waren prägend für das Leben vieler Menschen. Ihr Revival ist zunächst einfach Nostalgie und Einfallslosigkeit. Sicher auch Geschichtsbewusstsein. Und schliesslich: Auch eine grossartige Inspiration angesichts ihrer Rohheit und nach wie vor intakten Wirkung auf dem Dancefloor! »
