«Die gemeinsamen Nenner des Bristol Sound sind sicher der Bass und der Bezug zur Soundsystem-Kultur. Wichtige Einflüsse sind wohl auch der Ska, Dub, Dancehall und Punk aus den 80er Jahren und natürlich auch die späteren Triphop- und Jungle-Wellen. Die elektronische Musik aus Bristol tönt im Vergleich auch oft etwas roher und organischer und bleibt innovativ, ohne dabei erzwungen zu wirken oder seine Wurzeln zu verlieren. »

«Ich hatte noch nie die Gelegenheit, nach Bristol zu reisen. In meiner Phantasie vermengen sich Szenen aus Skins mit den herzzerreissenden Klängen Trickys. Banksys Wandmalerei wird vom leisen Knistern des Young Echo-Albums begleitet. Bürgerliche Backsteinhäuser neben Soundsystem-Carnival. Die Stadt bleibt für mich ein unscharfes Mosaik.»

«In der Schweiz gibt es einige Produzenten und DJs, die sich mit Dub beschäftigen. Ich denke, dass in Genf wohl die grösste und konstanteste Dub Szene zuhause ist. OBF sind von Genf und leisten seit Jahren gute und kontinuierliche Arbeit. Das Tengu Colltective aus St. Gallen mischt soviel ich weiss auch gut mit. In Biel, wo ich selbst lange mitgeholfen habe Dub-Nächte zu organisieren, gibt es immernoch das Tribute Soundsystem und Kabra, auch junge Organisatoren machen ab und Dub Partys, wo Zenit teilweise auflegt. Kabra macht auch selbst immernoch straighte Dub Musik.»

Nie vergessen werde ich auch meinen ersten Besuch am Nothing Hill Gate Carneval 1995. Die Soundsystem-Kultur am Karneval hatte in der Zeit noch keine auferlegten Gesetze und war kommerziell noch unberührt; jedes Haus, jede Strassenecke war im Groove - pulsierende Bässe, typische off Shruds/Stabs, mehrheitlich reiner Reggae und Dub, Jamaican/Carribean Power, ein riesen Erlebnis.
Insgesamt war das Entdecken von Dub ein sehr langer Prozess, welcher fast 8 Jahre gedauert hat.»

« Es gibt in der Schweiz viele Leute die sich mit Dub und Dub-verwandter Musik auseinandersetzen. Immer wieder lerne ich neue Leute kennen, die ziemlich vorlegen oder den Gestandenen in nichts nahestehen. Die Szene für Bass, Rhythm & dubwised electronic music ist somit wahnsinnig vielseitig und sehr aktiv – das Verständnis für tiefe Frequenzen ist definitiv vorhanden. Dank meinem Studiopartner Marius Neukom aka new.com (dubexmachina, bold, comfortnoise), der mich immer auf dem neuesten Stand hält, habe ich einen guten Einblick in das nationale und internationale Bass-Musik-Geschehen.
Die Roots Szene in Zürich ist sehr aktiv im Exil, Stall 6 oder Roten Fabrik. Die Romands haben immer wieder viel Erfolg mit Ihren Produktionen in Frankreich und auf meiner To-Do Liste in nächster Zeit ist jedenfalls ein Event mit dem Tengu Soundsystem aus St. Gallen. Anscheinend ist dies zur Zeit eines der besten und authentischsten Bass-Soundsystemen der Schweiz.»

«Dub hatte ich das erste Mal durch Radio Dadio in Biel, ein Steppers-Dub Soundsystem, kurz nach der Jahrtausendwende wahrgenommen. Ich hörte schon als Teenie Dub (Kiffen und so), aber so richtig bewusst setze ich mich mit Dub durch den Kontakt mit Zenit, Dada (heute Jah Kabra) und Koolkat auseinander. Ich war damals inmitte der Grime Welle, als plötzlich Dub und Grime sich zu verschmelzen begannen. Eine Offenbarung. Wir vereinten uns dann später zu einer Crew.»
